it depends on where you work a t I'm taking cosmetology classes and they said that if you keep working in the same salon it will help you because the more hour you get in work the better and is just like any regular job moving up you just got to be a good worker and apply for the type job you want and if you have enough time working there then it will not be a problem but you have to be a good worker.

You know what product sells really well and use all natural earth products is AVEDA they have an option or should I say a school that you could attend to become a rep, I have found aveda a wonderful product, the smell, the different choices you are able to pick from as far as curly hair to flat dull hair, people suffering from dried frizzy hair and over processed hair are able to use aveda products where it actually stores back their hair, I love aveda and they have a line in makeup as well as perfume and overall I rate them as a 10+ as I have used them for years and have not found any other product except Pureology to be as good as aveda, you will get a lot oh clients that are very well off that will spend tons of money on these products.
