What is the difference between 'professional' hair care products and regular ones?

Ads tell us that products used in hair salons are better than shampoos %26amp; conditioners bought in supermarkets or pharmacies. Is this true %26amp; if so why?

They are about the same. The first 5 ingredients in shampoos and conditioners are almost the same in every product. There is nothing wrong with buying Suave or White Rain et al; they will work just as well as the expensive brands.

Professional hair care products are made by professionals. The others are created by child laborers over in Taiwan.

I think they remain exclusive because they can't lower the quality of the product to satisfy the masses who want the price of inferior products like Pantene. I was once a non-believer, but no longer. A good product makes all the difference in the world.

The products used by professionals are not necessarily better, it depends on your hair and what you are looking for in a product. Cheaper products tend to have chemicals that are not so great for your hair, but for shampoo and conditioner it is not a huge deal. I suggest going with a mid-price shampoo and conditioner and perhaps upgrade for other product you may use. If you are concerned about what is in the bottle, check labels for more natural ingredients.

because salon shampoos have deep contioning in it that will last longer and does everything your hair needs

First off Pharmacies don't sell this stuff. Just prescriptions.

Read the labels and you will see that the only difference is about 5 bucks a bottle.
