Developing 360 waves?

Does anyone have any idea on how to develop 360 waves in my hair. First off, I'm black with black hair and i've tried several hair care products which gives me grease and tells me to put a durag on overnight. this does not work for the most part. does anyone else have any suggestions, or a website that they can refer me to ? please!

Developing 360 waves?

i'm a stylist, and my clients who have had the same problem have used baby oil and it works fabulously.... not a bottle of it, use it sparingly. Johnson's Dry baby oil spray is highly recommended, and like i said less is more, pick it thru when wet and let dry. perfect everytime.

Developing 360 waves?

Do you want 360 individual waves? or 360鎺?of waves? To make the 鎺?symbol hold down "Alt" key and type 0176, then release alt key.

As for hair, I am a white male with a shaved head. Probably not much help but good luck to you :-)

Developing 360 waves?

use less products, brush more. the key to getting waves is brushing. products are used mainly to help your hair lay down, but the more you brush the faster your waves will develope. make sure you always wear a du rag before you go to bed, or after you finish brushing.

Developing 360 waves?

i got waves an i went 2 hairboutique.com......go there and go 2 the 360 waves section and just read da forums

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

I have heard alot of people that think hair should only be left in for a short amount of time. I think that is cray. The time you spen doing the hair and the money, is enough to get your money worth of the hair. The Pain. I want someone to tell me the length of time you can keep Micros on. It would also be helpful if someone tells me the simplest way you can keep them in good condition, If you really dont have enough money to spend on all those expensive hair care products.

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

I would say three months as well, thats usully how long i keep mine in. As far as care for them goes, keep your scalp greased, and wear a head scarf at night to keep the from getting frizzy. don't put too many different products in them, as they will begin to smell funny, and if you wash them, make sure you know that they will get a frizzy quick, and will require more care. read the instructions for care and maintainance, some can take heat so you can curl them, others you cannot....good luck

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

they can stay in 4 @ least 3 months if u take care of dem right

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

go 2 parlor

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

3 MONTHS, BUT I DO KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE KEPT THEM LONGER. YOU CAN USE ISOPLUS HAIR PRODUCTS, THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT BRAID SPRAYS, BUT I USUALLY TELL PEOPLE TO GET THE HAIR POLISH, AND A SMALL BOTTLE USUALLY ONLY COSTS ABOUT $2.50. BUT WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING, YOU MAKE SURE YOU DONT SLEEP ON THEM WITHOUT A SCARF. AND KEEP YOUR SCALP OILED.

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

about a good 2-3 months.....but not to long cause ya hair can get notted

What is the length micros can be left in I dot want opinions i want the truth?

I'm giving your this breakdown so you will understand and be certain of truth rather that fiction...

In Years = 1/4 year

In Months = 3 months

In Days = 90 days

In Hours = 2160 hours

In Minutes = 126,600 minutes

In Seconds = 7,776,000 seconds

Hope it helps...

Home Perm Question:?

I have a great hair cut, however, no matter how many quality hair care products I use, I don't seem to be able to have my hair hold a style without going totally flat for longer than an hour. I would like to perm it to give it body...my question: Since I am having a great deal of difficulty getting the perm papers onto my hair and rolling it straight, can I use small, medium or large size "velcro like" rollers and obtain the body I am looking for? Or am I just wasting my time trying to achieve something that isn't possible with the method I propose to use?

Home Perm Question:?

You need to use the rods provided if you use different curlers they can hold more perm solution and it could ruin your hair. Ask a friend or relative to help you I couldn't do a perm on myself and I don't think you should do it alone. Good luck

Home Perm Question:?

i would advise just going to a salon to get it done. yes it costs a lot more but it willl probably turn out a lot better. If you used a different kind of curler at home it wouldnt work. also, my hair hold styles terribly. but i got a perm and it is sooooooo much better.

Does anyone else think that the media is being used to exploit and profit from our vanity?

Think about it, how much money is made off of skin care products.. or hair care products, gym memberships, make up, plastic surgery.

Does anyone else think that the media is being used to exploit and profit from our vanity?

That is why marketing budgets have increased in recent years.

We absorb alot

Does anyone else think that the media is being used to exploit and profit from our vanity?

well . . . duh! you raise good points. advertisers do, in fact, use vanity to sell products. they seek to cultivate it as well, by showing images of unusually attractive people and making people feel insecure. then they imply that their product is the way to fix yourself, to make you attractive. and when it doesn't work-- because they'll still be showing all those images-- they just try to sell you something new.

The media is being used by Businesses to exploit us.

AAAAAMMMMEEEENNNN!So many black women have been raised to be ashamed of their natural hair. I'm not! I just regret taking the plunge two years ago, then going back to what I call "the white devil cream"lol. I went back to relaxers because I had a baby on the way and could'nt afford to get my hair done. It's quite expensive to maintain natural hair in the south. All of this is coming from a licensed cosmetologist, but they don't teach you natural styling techniques in school. If you want that knowledge, you have to get it on your own time. But I learned so much while I was natural. I'm happy to anounce I 'm natural again, and I can't wait to get that Foxy Brown fro I had back! This time I'm not going back! Power to you sista! It's about time we embrace our natural beauty! If you know any good tips and products, please share the wealth, I'm still kinda new to the vast world of natural hair!Peace!!

Dear all i want good product for caring hair and make it fresh and waved?

a good product for caring for hair is pert plus. if you have straight hair there really isn't a way to make your hair wavy unless you like put rollers in your hair or consider a perm.what i to do to make my hair wave out at the nape of my neck is tie it up in a regular ponytail for a little while and it makes my hair soft and waved. or sometimes i put it up in a clip while in a hair tie.

Dear all i want good product for caring hair and make it fresh and waved?

How can i take care of hair with two different textures in it???

i'm in the process of growing out my hair from relaxer and i'm finding it really difficult to manage with the two textures. i am bi-racial and have about 1" of natural hair at the moment which is really thick textured maybe between a 3c and 4a also depending on which cart your following. i'm just really unsure of any products i can use in my hair during the transition to prevent breakage. does any one have any good pointers?

How can i take care of hair with two different textures in it???

all you need to know about growing afro hair and taking care of two texture hair .......... .................. is at this web for free

How can i take care of hair with two different textures in it???

Yah know i would actually suggest you just get zillions. i was trying to grow my hair out and thats what i did. just make sure your braids arent to small or to tight. dealing with 2 hair textures of hair may be difficult so maybe zillions wold be the way to go?

How can i take care of hair with two different textures in it???

well for hair of texture i'd say go with pantene for women of color i use it and other girls i know of other races it does help.I do agree with the latter about braids they do help and you don't have to worry about it everyday

Relaxers and texturizers..what is your suggestion?

I am about to put a texturizer in my hair and I would like to hear some of your suggestions..PLEASE SPEAK YOUR MIND..I would like to hear everything..Here is what I have just reseached.

The pH balance determines how harsh the chemical is. Research has shown that the lower the pH, the less damaging the product is to your hair. Water has a pH of 7. Anything less than 7 is considered acidic. The lower this number gets the greater the acidity. Any pH greater than 7 is considered alkaline. The higher the number gets the greater the alkalinity.

A one point difference in pH閳ユ獨 could have a significant impact on your hair A product with a pH of 13 is 10 times more alkaline than a product with a pH of 12. This same product would be 100 times more alkaline than a product with a pH of 11. The pH levels even tend to vary among the same products from batch to batch. A relaxer that worked great for you the last time you touched up, may cause more damage to your hair the next time you use it. It閳ユ獨 worth noting that the pH balance of Liquid Drano is 13.3.

The information gathered came from September 1999 edition of Consumer Reports and is not reported in any particular order. Its corresponding pH balance follows the product name/description.

The manufacturers provided the following relaxer pH閳ユ獨:

23. Dark %26amp; Lovely Beautiful Beginnings Relaxer for Fine Hair: 10.25

24. Phytospecific Index 1 Relaxer for Fine Hair: 9-12

25. Phytospecific Index 2 Relaxer for Coarse Hair: 9-12

26. Lady Velvet Lye Relaxer: 10-13

NOTE: One of the chemists for the Lady Velvet Lye Relaxer indicated that after attending a conference in England for relaxers that no one should use a relaxer with a pH balance of 12.5 or greater.

A major problem encountered as we followed up on this assignment was that pH balances were not indicated on the relaxers. You had to go to other sources to find this information. Some product manufacturers were not willing to freely part with this information. In another case, a member was transferred throughout the company in an effort to locate someone who even knew the pH balance of their product. Finally, the member was directed to their personal hairdresser who forgot the pH balance of the product. This point is being made because it appears that possibly the manufacturers do not feel that this information is relevant enough to include in their packaging.

As consumers, don閳ユ獩 we have the right to know? Unless we can force the FDA to require manufacturers to label their products with this information, we will never know what we are getting unless we do our own research. We need to initiate a letter writing campaign to our congressperson and the FDA to request that they add a requirement to their cosmetic labeling guidelines to include the pH balances on relaxers.

Other relaxer information:

There are several types of relaxer chemicals: 1. ammonium bisulfite and ammonium thioglycolate 2. calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate, and 3. sodium hydroxide (lye). The most damaging chemicals tend to be calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate and sodium hydroxide. Most "no-lye" relaxers are based on the calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate chemicals. Ammonium bisulfite and ammonium thioglycolate are the least damaging of the chemicals and are normally used as texturizers because they do not get the hair as straight.

Note: A texturizer should never be done on previously relaxed hair because it will eventually disintegrate the relaxed portion of the hair.

When relaxing your hair it is important to read the product directions to determine how long a specific relaxer should be left in. For fine or previously damaged hair the time should be no longer than 13 minutes, for medium-strength or slightly damaged hair the time should be no longer than 15 minutes, and for coarse, resistant or minimally damaged hair the time should be no longer than 20 minutes. These are just guidelines and would vary of course depending on the texture and condition of your hair.

The importance of a neutralizer cannot be stressed enough. It is needed to stop the processing of the relaxer. It should be left in the hair for a minimum of 5 minutes. It takes at least that long for the active ingredients of the neutralizer to penetrate all three layers of the hair shaft and bring the pH of the hair down to normal. If the neutralizing shampoo is rinsed from the hair too soon, the neutralizing action may stop while the pH of the relaxer is still in a high alkaline state. This can cause breakage and shedding because some of the relaxer閳ユ獨 active ingredients are still in the inner-hair causing rapid deterioration. If your hair was in good condition prior to relaxing, and then starts to break or shed after the relaxer treatment, this is probably due to improper neutralizing.

Before using any chemical process, please remember that your hair needs to be in the best possible condition. Relaxing damaged hair will only compound your problems. Since relaxing is very hard on the hair, the importance of proper care and appropriate follow-up treatment cannot be stressed enough.

Relaxers and texturizers..what is your suggestion?

Well, you can be natural and flat iron your hair when you want to wear it straight. The problem i had was my hair would revert back quickly because it is very humid wear i live. My hair is also very kinky. Straight my hair was past my shoulders natural it was a fro. Sooo, I get phytospecific #1 in my hair. My stylist does not leave it on long. Long enough to loosen my kink. My hair looks natural when i dont flat iron it, and it hangs. When i wear it straight it holds much better. I have been getting my hair touched up 3times a year, I might try two times. I feel like I have the best of both worlds and my hair is and looks healthy.

You really need to decide how you want to wear your hair and if you want to sacrifice the health of your hair. When you put a chemical in your hair your are giving up some of your hairs strength. If flat ironing does not work for you I would suggest a texturizer. From the research you have done it looks like phytospecific is has a low PH#. (i am not sure if texturizers were in your research) You can tell your stylist how straight you want your hair and she can shorten the time. If you are happy with the results do not chair hop. I went to a different stylist once and she left the relaxer in to long and my hair was straighter then I wanted.

I hope this helps. But really think about what you want. Once you relax your hair you will have to cut your hair to go back to natural.

Relaxers and texturizers..what is your suggestion?

k bh;ise8wuyaswit pshhhhhhhh thatz 2 longggg.

Relaxers and texturizers..what is your suggestion?

If you done all that research for your question, then do it for your answer. Too much information.

Relaxers and texturizers..what is your suggestion?

In my opinion both are bad. You said speak your mind, so...my mind says "Be natural!" :)

How do I take care of african american hair?

Im hispanic but I am about to have a mixed baby. Im having a little boy and I want him to have an afro when hes old enough I think that would be so cute. What shampoo and other products should I use to keep his hair managable? Im clueless about taking care of this texture of hair so please help.

How do I take care of african american hair?

The best way to manage his hair is to get it braided. When getting his hair braided the stylist usually uses grease such as BLue Magic and Softee to make sure that the hair is mositurized and managable. With braided hair, the hair can be an afro with a good comb and wash after the braids get taken out (take them out in about 3 or 4 weeks) or and go back into the braided style for the hair can grow even longer. From experience with some family members with braided hair, it grows very fast so is it gets too long just take him to the barber for a trim.

WELL CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK!!! =}

How do I take care of african american hair?

um, well, any volumizing hair products should work...but while his hair is still damp, get a comb and comb out the tangles with his hair being gently pulled up, then let it dry and keep doing it!

How do I take care of african american hair?

You have to have a certain texture of hair to have an afro,

cleary you cant have silky thin straight blone hair and get an afro.

I recommend you have the baby first, therefor you know what kinda hair the baby will have (really curly, straight, thick) and go from there.

How do I take care of african american hair?

Try some shea butter products to deep condition before washing, and don't forget to leave conditioner in for a few minutes while he plays in the water so that it has time to work.

How do I take care of african american hair?

just wait to see what type of hair he has. Just because he's going to be mixed don't mean he will have blk people hair. In the invent that he do you do nothing different than u would to your hair wash with shampoo air dry. Around 1 1/2 yrs old take to barber shop tell barber you want him to have an fro they'll know what to do.

How do I take care of african american hair?

You shouldn't use too many products on a baby. Their scalps are very sensitive. Try something very light and stick to it. More than likely, your child will have very curly hair. The hair will be short as a baby. But to maintain an afro, you should keep it cut to manageable height.

How do I take care of african american hair?

the cantu shea butter cream at walmart works good,.and smells good! and they make baby hair products for kinky hair such as this one... http://www.curlmart.com/store/product.ph...

the key is keep the hair moisturized and dont use shampooo with sulfates in the ingredients!

I have mixed hair too and it took me YEARS.. like my WHOLE life so far to find out what works for my hair..and the flat iron isnt the solution..

How do I take care of african american hair?

Check out this website, it offers lots of help about how to take care of natural kinky hair. In general the most important thing to remember when taking care of kinky hair is keeping it moisturized. Stay away from shampoos with sulfates and any products with mineral oil, petroleum, and silicones. These will dry out his hair in the long run.

Good luck and Congrats in advance.

How do I take care of african american hair?

I really doubt if your baby boy could get a fro due to he is mixed.

He should have a good grade of hair. Thick and probably curly or straight.

Help me pick a new hairstyle? PLEASE HELP!?

I have dark brown hair. The length is about just up to my chest. It is kinda wavy, but the waves are long and look weighed down. You can't really notice them. My hair is layered and cut on an angle. But it looks so straight and boring!

I totally need a new hairstyle. I've had this same hairstyle for like, since I've been born. I'm so sick of it. Please help me find a new hairstyle? And are there any hair care products out there that you think might be good for me? That might give my hair that little frazz that im looking for?

PLEASE HELP!

Help me pick a new hairstyle? PLEASE HELP!?

I would try matrix shampoo and conditioner salon style... I would get light brown highlights... I would probably also straight-iron my hair towards my face... that looks sooo cute... Happy Holidays! Best of luck!

Help me pick a new hairstyle? PLEASE HELP!?

I've always thought that the half pony is cute (pulling up only the front part of your hair), but you've probably thought of that already.

Also have you tried curling it up a bit. I have curly hair and I love it. mine's natural, but you could try a curler or scrunching it up with some mouse. crimped is nice too.

Help me pick a new hairstyle? PLEASE HELP!?

It sounds like dramatic curls would be pretty; I recommend buying two types of curling irons: spiral curler and a 1.5" curling iron. The 1.5" curling iron will provide curls that are long and look bouncy, the spiral curler will provide short and springy-looking curls. Each can be bought for about $20 at http://www.conair-store.com/ or at Target, Ulta, etc.

The 1.5" will give you a look something like this :

The spiral curler will give you a look something like this:

http://securesales.thewigmall.com/Mercha...

(sorry, I know that's hard to see).

As for styling products, always use hairspray when curling your hair, I recommend Herbal Essence hairspray.

If you're looking for anti-frizz products, try Redken. They have a lot of great products that may be expensive but last a long time and work very well.

Hope this helped, and good luck!

Help me pick a new hairstyle? PLEASE HELP!?

I had the same problem with my hair. Ive done alot of coloring and things to my hair but the most recent thing I had was natural and it sound simular to yours. I cut it about shoulder length, keeping it a little bit longer in the front. Then I added some golden hightlights and some low lights. It really made a difference. I love my new hair! If your not looking to go so drastic than maybe if you can splurge on a few haircare products to enchance your natural waves. I love the Redken line, Fresh Curls. I used to use the Fresh Curls shampoo and conditioner, and then I'd towel dry my hair and put in some of the Fresh Curls Anti-Frizz Shiner. Then I would use a diffuser to enhance my waves. It makes them really soft and shiny and enhances your natural waves very well. There a little pricy, but I think well worth the splurge. If you want also face-framing layers, side bangs (on the long side so there still very versatile), and getting some new shorter layers all over are a great way for a small change. Good luck, hope this helps.

For GIRLS only?

Ohkay! if you look on hair care products it says "best use if used wih this product" ya know like a line of hair care products does that mean the product doesnt work without it?

For GIRLS only?

No it doesnt. It will work fine without the other products. But to get the complete result that the entire line is aiming for, it IS recommeded that you use all the products in the line.

However, it does not take away from the results of the product you purchased if you dont use the entire line.

For GIRLS only?

it means forex) the shampoo or whatever works better with ___ kind of conditioner

For GIRLS only?

No it just means u will probly have better results if u use the other products with it

For GIRLS only?

Nope. It's just bs to get you to buy more of their products so they make money. Just use whatever you want with the products.

For GIRLS only?

no, it means it works best if used with other product

still works though

For GIRLS only?

no it means they want you to use the companion product the company makes

like herbal essences shampoo will say "best if used with herbal essence's *insert product line* conditioner followed by *product* leave-in styling gel"

For GIRLS only?

it means nothing...except companies want you to spend more money with them.

For GIRLS only?

no. It is just a way to get consumers to keep buying the same line of products so that the firm gains popularity and profit.

For GIRLS only?

Isn't it better for a company to sell two of its products instead of just one?!?!?!?!

Sales pressure is all it is!

For GIRLS only?

No, it still would work, the companies are just trying to sell more of their products. People like you would believe that kind of stuff. So therefor it works for them. But that really is not the case. Use the product and nothing else. It is just a way to sell things.

For GIRLS only?

no they're just trying to get you to buy more of their products all you really need is shampoo

For GIRLS only?

It means that the results will be better if you use the same products. But if you use something diffrentt it doesn't matter, unless its bad for you!

For GIRLS only?

No... the product works with or without the product. The company just wants to get you to buy some more of their products, and then that product would say it would work best with another product. By the time you have bought all the products, you hair would be the same as it started with the first product, but now you have less money.

For GIRLS only?

Well usually they are just trying to get you to buy more of their product - each one works well alone. However, sometimes the product's performance is enchanced with whatever the follow-up product is. Use whichever works for you, the brand name doesnt have much to do with it.

For GIRLS only?

No, it still works but not as well

For GIRLS only?

no.that hair care company just sponsors them,it doesnt usualy mjake any difference.

p.s why would this be girls only?

For GIRLS only?

no

For GIRLS only?

I think they just want your money lol. I mean of course they are not going to say it is best used with another brand lol

What did Madame C.J. Walker actually invent? I mean specifically, all i could find was a scalp cream

I have to do a 1pg. monologue from the point of view that I am Madame CJ Walker. I know that she made the first African American hair care products but I don't know how to actually turn that into a monologue. And for those who don't know what a monologue is, a monologue basically a skit for just one person. It's the thoughts in somebody's mind. So I guess what was in Madame CJ Walker's mind when she decided to make the African hair care products. Help me please. I just need help as in where to start.

What did Madame C.J. Walker actually invent? I mean specifically, all i could find was a scalp cream, for...?

There are a few sites that show the products, in little tins (it's not like the shampoo we know today, but then, neither was men's shaving cream, or toothpaste). One is a "vegetable shampoo" (which looks like a tin of soap), and the other is called a "wonderful hair grower" (which looks like a tin of ointment).

I don't know how many ways you have to source this project, but according to this website:

http://www.lkwdpl.org/wihohio/walk-mad.h...

Walker claimed that the idea for the hair grower came from a dream she had, in which a black man gave her a recipe to cure baldness. That could make an interesting monologue, or at the very least a good part of one.

The dream angle is not so far-fetched, either. Supposedly Singer got the idea for sewing machines from a dream he had about needles sewing from top and bottom simultaneously.

What did Madame C.J. Walker actually invent? I mean specifically, all i could find was a scalp cream, for...?

Did you go to the Public Library and ask for assistance look up the information?

I am looking for a black hair stylist in west suburban Chicago?

I need a stylist near the suburbs of Chicago (Aurora, Naperville area...). I normally wear my hair pressed but I want a "hair care" stylist to keep up the maintainence and proper care and who isnt outrageously overpriced. The stylist does not have to black but I want someone who can handle "black hair" care and knows their products. Anyone know where I can find one?

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

Does New York City (including all the burroughs) have grocery stores and supermarkets like in Texas? I'm talking about the HUGE grocery and supermarkets that sell everything! They have a large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, chicken, beef, frozen veges and stir-fry, cereals, juices (in the cartons), cheese, pasta and sauces, spices and seasonings, frozen desserts, cake mixes, muffin mixes, chips, gallon water, ziplock bags, toilet tissue, paper towels, straws, soaps, personal hygiene products, hair care products, over the counter medicines, pharmacy etc. (Don't laugh, I know I listed ALOT of stuff, but I'm trying to give a thorough explination so that the answers will be helpful.) When I went to New York I didn't see stores like this (maybe I didn't look in the right places. lol) An example of a supermarket in Texas that carries all these items (and a WHOLE lot more) is Albertson's. Do they have stores like Albertson's in New York city?

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

New York has supermarkets that carry fresh produce, meat, fish, baked goods, paper goods, cereals, soda, beer, pet food, laundry products, cleaning products, etc, etc etc. I don't know how big a Texas market is, but New York City's supermarkets are usually less than half the size of those upstate. Manhattan supermarkets are generally smaller than those in the other boroughs and very few of them have parking lots.

There is such a concentration of stores, we pass twenty different stores just on the way home from work - it's easy to stop and buy two bananas at a produce store, an eclair from a bakery and batteries at the drug store - no need to wait on line at a supermarket. Apartment dwellers don't buy 100 rolls of toilet paper - no place to store it.

Check these links to see what's on sale this week in New York markets:

http://www.thefoodemporium.com/weekly_sp...

I do the bulk of my shopping in Brooklyn - notice the difference in prices

http://stopandshop.shoplocal.com/index.a...

http://www.waldbaums.com/weekly.asp

(These markets have much better prices and they have parking lots)

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

No, in the burb's and some outer boro's yes.

1st real estate is too expensive.

2nd NY'ers are accustomed to good food and the mega-marts don't carry quality stuff. It's all factory farmed or generic name brand stuff.

3rd NY'ers don't usually shop once a week. They purchase things in smaller quantites during the week. They get bread from a bakery, fruit from a green grocer, etc. Think Quality not Quantitiy.

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

Of course there are. I have been to several.

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

YES WE HAVE SUPERMARKETS. There are different types, c-town, key foods, food emporium, gristedes, whole foods (organic) and we have lots of outdoor markets, south street seaport fresh gourmet good market. there is a big vareiety for shopping. theres always afood store, maybe not as huge as as the super stores in texas but we do have regualr food stores (usually they are two floors)

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

yes, you can go to Pathmark, Shoprite

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

The outer boroughs do..we have Stop %26amp; Shop,Waldbaums,C-Town,Food Bazaar and if you dont mind paying a membership fee try BJ's or Costco

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

no but in cities like 30 minutes away they do

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

You shop differently if you live in Manhattan and go to delis more, but the variety of what you can get is incredible and the farmer markets are like nowhere else. D'ags is prob. the best known one. Getting seafood in the northeast is also better than anywhere else (yeah I know Galveston has the shrimp boats).

If you live in the other boroughs then you'll be going to the supermarket.

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

Nope. Much smaller. Many are very nice but many are like you would find 20 years ago in texas. Family owned, cashier still types in the prices.

Grocery stores and Supermarkets in New York City?

NO! I moved up here from Atlanta and would kill for a Publix. We end up just ordering our groceries online. They have little grocery stores with no selection. For produce, I go to the produce stand, for meat the butcher shop and so on. For toiletries I go to the drug store. It's kind of a pain but it's a trade-off for living in the city.

I don't know why I've gotten 5 thumbs down for this one. New York doesn't have huge grocery stores like they do in Texas.

How do care for your hair to be thick and fluffy?

I have split ends and my hair is damaged. I want to have thick and bouncy hair.

What are some products I could use?

What should I do to maintain healthy hair?

How do care for your hair to be thick and fluffy?

one word: sunsilk

anti poof

How do care for your hair to be thick and fluffy?

i LOVE the garnier fructus products....use the dry and damagerd shampoo and the silky and shiny conditioner! LOVE and it really works!

How do care for your hair to be thick and fluffy?

You should get your split ends cut off, that will help alot. I have really thick hair and if I dont have it thinned it looks really flat and blah. I LOVE Redken 12, I buy it at the salon where i get my hair cut. On the bottle it says to use it on dry hair but I use it on my wet hair before I dry it. Just use a very very small amount though. Then you should try using a paddle brush it will make it alot easier to style your hair while drying it. Oh yeah I also use pantene leave in conditioner on my wet hair before drying so all of the tangles will get out of my hair.

How do care for your hair to be thick and fluffy?

You should pantene my hair WAS all damaged and really bad untill I used pantene trust me but all of the pantene dont work classic clean works really good!!! Good Luck

Caring for Curly Hair?

I want tips on how to care for my curly hair. Before you say anything, I want it to look as natural as possible with using few hair products. Trust me, i've tried gel and mouse and I absolutely hated it.

I know that you're not supposed to shampoo it every day, and that curly hair needs more moisture than any other hair types. I have also learned that brushes and curly hair do not go together.

Basically, I just need some recommended products and tips for curly hair. I like mixing stuff up, so yeah. I've tried Garnier Fructis and products from WalMart, but they aren't that good. I just use Pro-V Pantene right now.

I also want a few pictures on how layered haircuts look on curly hair. I'm thinking of getting a new haircut. And is their any hair products that help your hair grow faster?

Thanks.

Caring for Curly Hair?

I have long curly hair and I also hate mousse and gel. They give you that stiff 80's video girl look. So here's what I do...

1) Wash every other day. When you do wash, only use shampoo at the roots. On days you don't shampoo, you can still wet your hair and use conditioner.

2) Don't rub with a towel to dry. Squeeze gently with a towel.

3) Use a frizz taming CREME. Cremes are generally moisturizing and don't dry stiff or oily.

4) Use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners.

5) Layers are great if they are long. Without layers, my hair looks like a big triangle. Long layers give it shape. Short layers give you poodle head. Keep 'em long.

6) Only brush before you get in the shower. Use a wide brush with wide spaces between the bristles.

7) Leave the conditioner in as long as you can. I shave my legs and wash my face while it sets in.

It took me 15 years to learn to deal with my hair. Now I get compliments from strangers. A far cry from the 15 year old me with finger-in-the-light-socket-hair. Hope it helps you!

Caring for Curly Hair?

i don't know what to tell you if you don't like mousse products."sunsilk" (green) may help and the after conditioner.... i'm really sorry i can't tell you more =(

i REALLY hope this helps you

Caring for Curly Hair?

i have curly hair and i got it layered and it had so much more bounce to it. if its long and not layered, it is usually weighed down. as for hair products, id try paul mitchell curl definer. i found it at a jcpenney salon. they have it baically at every salon. if you dont like that or ots too expensive, try sunsilk products. they work pretty well. but trust me, paying a lot for hair products is really worth it.

Caring for Curly Hair?

omygod do not get layers!!! layers are only made to volumize hair, and curly hair already has enough volume. using hot oil every couple of days reallly helps your hair. shiny curly hair is the best looking curly hair. Try and use a shampoo and conditionair for curly hair, herbal essences is nice - spelles great too!

and your right - never brush your hair, if you need to calm down flyaways, spritz some hairspray on tiolet paper and run the toilet paper gently over the top of your hair. Also, if you must blow dry your hair, do it upside down.

well this is all I can think of now, hope this helps!

Caring for Curly Hair?

Get LONG layers, it'll add more shape to your hair, but only slight, or you'll like a poodle. When I had my hair natural, it looked great. When you wash your hair, do it around 3 times a week, once with shampoo and twice with just conditioner and only comb/brush when wet. Mousse doesn't do shiz, just adds another layer of greasy. Use Aussie products, they're pretty good. They have this 'mousse' and it feels like water and keeps your hair soft and defined, shiny (and not in the i-just-put-alot-of-crap-in-my-hair-to-ge... shiny, either, it's really nice). You should be able to find it in WalMart or whereever. For Shampoo/conditioner try the Herbal Essences blue moisture one SO good.

Looked for pics and this one's pretty:

http://www.updoprincess.com/curly%20long...

Hope this helps XP

Caring for Curly Hair?

I also hate gel and mousse products, they leave my hair feeling stiff. I find that my hair looks best after doing an olive oil conditioning treatment. Apply olive oil to your hair and scalp, about 2 tbsp if you have long hair. Leave it while you do chores or something around the house and then shampoo twice. As far as shampoo, I make my own and use this recipe:

http://www.pioneerthinking.com/rs_herbal...

The oil treatment can be done once a month. To control frizzies on a day to day basis, I like either a tiny bit of a natural conditioner, like trader joe's "Nourish Spa" (no more than a pea sized amount) or a bit of coconut oil (again, just a little).

Hope this helps. Since I've gotten away from drying shampoos, my hair grows faster and feels a lot healthier.

I am looking for a Natural Afro hair care course that deals with Natural relaxers and dreadlocks maintance?

I don't know your endz, but there's a black natural hair salon in Highgate (am looking for in on the web as I type this); don't know if they do courses. There's also a place called EFTAL on West Green Road in Tottenham (check the link below); if they don't do courses then they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Wildgrowth?

I just ordered this hair product called wild growth. I heard of it in a magazine. I've used it one time which was today because i just purchased it. Has any of u guys ever tried it. Does it really work. I did research on it an like every other hair care product they say it works wonders. I just can't wait to see for my self. I don't want it to do what the other hair product Dr. Maracle did to me. Dr. Miracle DID get my hair to grow BUT when I stopped for a min it started to fall out.

Wildgrowth?

girl wildgrowth oil works wonders!! It grows your hair so long, I had only been using it for a month and already my hair had grown 2 1/2 inches.. It works really well. But just try to only use it twice a day, no more!! But that works. Dr.Miracle works also.. I use to use that but I had the same problem and switched to DOO GRO, But from time to time I use Wild Growth Oil, It really works!!!

Black Hair Care Advice?

I've always had very thin, short and unhealthy hair and has never had anyone to help me take care of it.Now I'm 17 and I am finally trying to take care of my hair but I don't know how to. My hair is short, dry, very brittle and very thin.I first permed my hair when I was about 8 or 9 years old and I still perm it every two months. Before I would just put it in a pony tail, cornrows, individual braids (human hair) and I now sow weave which has made my hair worst then before.I used every type of hair product and read learned that natural products should work good for my hair type, I haven't yet used natural products but I read that Carol's Daugter and Beauty 4 Ashes are my best choice.

I want to know should I continue to get my hair washed and set once a week and perm it every two months using natural products or should I cut it off and grow out the perm by either continuing to sow in the weave or get individual braids and get them done over every two months and what type of hair?

Black Hair Care Advice?

I think you should buy motions CPR treatment and put it and and sit under a blowdryer for like 30 mins every two weeks and stop perming your hair just let the perm grow out and get you hair trimmed every two weeks. And if you want you hair to be straight like if you had a perm just flat iron it. Thats what i did but i usually keep it in individuals and it is growing and becoming more healthy. And another thing if you are going to get individuals dont let them stay in for more that 4 weeks

Black Hair Care Advice?

Your hair sounds like it needs moisture.

I would suggest washing your hair with conditioner at least once a week, you can go to the salon and request it but you can do it at home too.

Good moisturizing conditioners are Nexxus Humectress,Keracare Humecto or any V05 conditioner.

When you get relaxers ask the stylist to leave a little texture so your hair won't be overprocessed.

Also limit heat usage and ALWAYS use a heat protectant when flat ironing.

Black Hair Care Advice?

DO NOT PERM YOUR HAIR ANY MORE. I REPEAT DO NOT PERM YOUR HAIR ANY MORE. The perm is most like the reason why your hair is thin short and brittle. That is what happen to me when I had a perm .You will also need to cut all of the perm out of your hair. You should try getting braids for about a years to get your hair healthy .Here are some product that help me to get my hair once again.

Black Hair Care Advice?

The best product to use is anything from Dr. Miracles or Doo Gro hair care products.

Leave the weaves alone.

Start using the products I mentioned and start messaging your scalp and hair line and temple are with a hair dressing that contains natural oils, vitamins and minerals. Do this at least two times a week.

Stop washing your hair every week. African Americans do not need to wash their hair that often because it causes our hair to loose it natural oils. We are suppose to wash our hair every 10-14 days.

Black Hair Care Advice?

Perms can be very damaging to black hair. Some people can wear them, but for many black women they cause the symptoms you are experiencing - dry, short, brittle, thin hair. In addition, weaves and braids, especially braids that are too tight, or that are done with someone else's hair, cause hair loss for many people because they exert constant tension on the hairline.

I strongly suggest that you stop perming your hair and you work on taking care of it in its natural state. The hardest part of learning to take care of black hair naturally is when you first start out. After you get used to it, it becomes much easier. Some people choose to chop off all of their relaxed hair and just start over fresh. Others let the relaxer grow out gradually and work with different styles while this is happening.

I am looking for a Natural Afro hair care course that deals with Natural relaxers and dreadlocks mai

Natural relaxers and dreadlocks maintence with natural products

I am looking for a Natural Afro hair care course that deals with Natural relaxers and dreadlocks maintance?

I don't know your endz, but there's a black natural hair salon in Highgate (am looking for in on the web as I type this); don't know if they do courses. There's also a place called EFTAL on West Green Road in Tottenham (check the link below); if they don't do courses then they might be able to point you in the right direction.

(Will get back to you when I find that place in Highgate!)

I do the bulk of my shopping in Brooklyn - notice the difference in prices

http://www.waldbaums.com/weekly.asp

Any good brands of salon hair care & where to get em?

the salon stylist told me that products from salon are much better than the ones sold at stores like walmart target etc. cause its made with better ingredients. any good recommendations?

Any good brands of salon hair care %26amp; where to get em?

I found a really good hair conditioner that you can buy at beauty supplies its by "ENJOY" and its their hair mask.

Its the best I have ever used and now my hair does not break off any more. The shampoo is great too.

Also sometimes I use almond oil on my hair. rub hands together and go thru hair, makes it shine with out chemicals.

Any good brands of salon hair care %26amp; where to get em?

Your stylist wants you to buy from the salon because he/she gets a commission. Check the ingredients for yourself... you can get some of the same quality products at a discount store for a fraction of the cost. I use Pantene ProV and my hair is very healthy, soft, and looks great!

Any good brands of salon hair care %26amp; where to get em?

I don't know if you're a brunette or not. But if you are I suggest Brilliant Brunette. It is a salon style hair care product, but it is available to the public at regular stores.

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care

my hair is thick and kinda nappy and i wont a flat iron without a relaxer and but not good with taking care of my hair and i need a heath product and good grease and shampoo also a nice and smooth conditioner and something that wont make my hair fall out and my hair is kinda short and uneven.......should i go with a flat iron and cut it in layers????help meeeee pleaseeee

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care of my hai

If you have black people's hair then you will have difficulty keeping it straight if it is not chemically relaxed. If the hair is not chemically altered it will nap and kink right back up when the natural elements get a hold to it (any type of summer heat, wind, rain, humidity. . .).

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care of my hai

If you have Black people haIR AND YOUR NOT BLACK, GET YOUR DAM TONGUE OUT OF THE WALL RECEPTICLE, DUMMIE

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care of my hai

you need a really good shampoo and conditioner, it makes a big difference. redken makes a good shampoo for fighting frizz. also nuetragena triple moist products are good.

stay away from clarifying, baby , daily and dandruff shampoos. they remove to much oil and make your hair real light feeling.

after you wash your hair, use john frieda's spotlight or which ever one goes with your hair color, it is an oily product. you only use one drop literally, don't use more or your hair willbe oily.

dry your hair and then you have to use a straightening iron. that is the only way to get it straight. you can have it relaxed but it may cost you.

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care of my hai

That's something most sista's deal with daily, especially now that its hot and humid. I go to the salon, and between visits I use a flat iron.

Braiding is always an option.

I hav black people hair n i want my hair striaght without havin a relaxer im not good at takin care of my hai

i have very thick hair also and i use a flat iron, to not make it burnt and dry i use biolage smooth therapy from matrix and trust me it works very well!!!!!

WELL CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK!!! =}

I want a range thats not common in other salons something a bit exclusive but not too expensive as ive found my customers dont want to spend too much no more than 鎷?0 for a shampoo and about the same for a conditioner. Ive been looking at a range called bumble and bumble and it looks great but its expensive and im worried that the price will scare people. please help me im running out of time........

Im want a new professional hair care range for my new salon. i use Loreal professional and want another range.

Redken and Matrix are the two most known product lines, because they are advertised in just about any magazine you pick up. It would be great to carry one of those lines. People are always coming into the salon I work and asking for one of the two. Another line that is becoming very big is the Chi line. I don't know where you are, but around here it is in high demand. I find that when customers are looking for professional products, they are expecting to pay a higher price. They know that they get what they pay for. Best of luck with your new salon.

Im want a new professional hair care range for my new salon. i use Loreal professional and want another range.

Framesi; it is from Italy; high quality and less expensive than Bumble and Bumble; been around forever. They actually have a traditional line that has been around for many years,, and a newer line formulated from rhodocrosite and other gemstones like tourmaline and infused with protein, very cutting edge, but very clinical good-looking packaging. It's all great smelling, high-tech, cutting-edge, and different. My salon where I go to get my hair done has been carrying their hair color and hair products for years; it's Italian so you can't go wrong with their technology, and it's not cookie-cutter.

Im want a new professional hair care range for my new salon. i use Loreal professional and want another range.

i love love love Redkin Products they have a great line for curly hair that is wonderful. I swear by the whole line for my clients, they love the color choices and the product lines. I is about mid range in price and well worth it.

Im want a new professional hair care range for my new salon. i use Loreal professional and want another range.

Paul Mitchell products are good, and mid priced in nice packaging and with nice fragrances. Or what about Ghd products, the Angel Tears product that my friend sells in her salon, is flying off the shelves. P.S. research this on your own with the feedback your customers give you. Do not listen to sales reps of anyone from Salon Services, they will try and sell you any old crap. Good Luck hope you do well.
