Looking for good quality hair care products...?

I have thin, naturally curly hair. I'm looking for some hair care products I can buy at Wal-Mart or Target that will tame the frizzies and fly aways as well as moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!

When it comes to shampoo, you can get the same quality for $1 as you do for 15. Check out Paula's website where she explains ingredients in shampoos and conditioners and compares the low end vs the high end. With shampoo, none will tame frizz as they are simply detergents that rince out. None of the protiens or smoothing stuff penetrates as it rinses away with the detergent. You want a shampoo with a milder detergent. If you go to paula's site she will tell you what to look for on the label. I used to buy the expensive salon shampoos but now just get the $2 stuff and have no problems.

As for conditioner, that's a whole different monster. Again, check out paula's site, but what I get is the Loreal line that is the drugstore version of their kerestasse line. The ingredients are identical, just the concentration and scent is different. I'd much rather give $5 for the lorel than $28 for it's Kerestase twin.

Also, make sure your hair has enough moisture as frizzy hair sometimes is just over dry hair. Not anything too heavy as it will weigh down the thin.

Good luck!

Girl, if you want to take good care of your hair, don't buy the cheap shampoo/conditioner. Top of the line right now is: Pureology. Pricey but it works wonders!

(or Nexxus is good too)

I'm completely in love with any kind of hair product- I think it's kind of an addiction. Haha, anyway, for frizz serums %26amp; creams, anything that has silicone in it will work just fine. Don't fall for the extremely pricy serums, because most of them are the exact same. My favorite shampoo is Paul Mitchell. But pantene is also one of my favorites- they've just come out with a new line that are specifically for different types of needs- like frizz, breakage, and color. Stay away from Herbal Essences, because the ingredients in it will really dry your hair and lead to breakage. Garnier Fructis is great, too. They make so many different serums %26amp; gels %26amp; creams, they make it hard to choose what you want. Since your hair is curly, look for a cream or serum that is for curly hair that will fight frizz, it will work best for you hair's texture. Treseme` tends to be good, but some of their conditioners and shampoos are alcohol based, and all that will do is dry out your hair. All of these products should be easy to find at a drugstore or supercenter. I tend to buy my shampoos from salons, and I normally go for Bumble %26amp; Bumble [it's my favorite right now!], Redken 5th Avenue, and the Atmosphere lines. But I know they can be extremely pricy. I know this is getting long- but this was a question I really knew how to answer. Hope it helps!

Read the book and visit the site below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life! The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent. They dry out curly hair. Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt are all that is needed. Then spread conditioner on outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. It is also important to use gel on wet hair and scrunch the hair. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least the website. Good luck!
