They have a full head of hair into old age because they do not go bald from the perms, dye and head-lice remedies, using simple soaps to keep it shiny and clean, not expensive perfumed shampoos.

Speaking as a Muslim woman, I do find that I do save money on hair products because I am not applying products on my hair to keep it looking nice due to exposure. I do get my hair done on a regular basis to keep it health and looking nice. I don't think Ted meant any harm. Perhaps he was just curious becuase we do cover our hair regularly when are out.
