African American hair care help please :(?

Truth is, I dont know how to take care of it. My mom is filipino and my dad and brother dont know anything about relaxed hair.

I just got my hair relaxed the other day. My stylist said I shouldnt use Pantene Pro-V in my hair because it might be the reason why my scalp was always dry/hair falling out. I dont know what stuff to put in my hair to keep it from drying either.. So...

What type of shampoo/hair products should I use that I can easily find at the store like at Walmart? :\ Stuff at the salon is too expensive..

How often should I wash my hair? I see people say a week/2 weeks but usually my hair would start to smell funny by the 2nd or 3rd day and its gross.

How do I keep my hair straight after I wash it?

Help pleaaaseeee ;(

hmm if your mother is fillipino than you should have curly hair right?always grease your scalp to stop the dryness wash your hair with cream of nature you can find it at your local ethnic hair store i'm not sure if there is a bunnies where you live but that's what i use (i'm also half black)if i were you i would just straighten it with a maxi glide it works very well and last a long time you should try hot 6 oil i use it all of the time you can heat it up than put it in your hair and leave it in with a special cap and it moisturizes it alot.

oh and do not wash your hair so much it will strip your hair of natural oils and vitamans

First of all, my stylist told me that Pantene Pro V sucks. I recommend Biolage(sort of expensive) or Tresseme. If you are putting things like grease, gel, mousse, etc. you should wash it more often. You maybe should wash it 2 or 3 times a wee.

You can find Tresemme %26amp; cream of nature at walmart. It may take some experimenting to find out what works best. Look for something that is moisturizing, both the shampoo %26amp; conditioner. If you've had your hair relaxed, IMO try motions. The conditioner works on any type of hair.

Good luck!

Well in that case wash your hair every 4-5 days. As for shampoo I suggest Motions or Dr. Miracles.

You may have an urge to over wash your hair, but don't. To remove the not-so-fresh feeling in between your shampoos, try a no-H2O-necessary shampoo like Klorane Oat Extract Dry Shampoo.

Just run a dime-sized amount through your hair and you will be left with fresh-smelling, clean strands.

Since you aren't washing your hair as often, you may notice your scalp will get a bit itchy. Please, resist the urge to scratch.

You can cut the skin which will invite in an assortment of bacteria.

Relieve the itch by swiping your scalp with an astringent-soaked cotton ball or pad.

If you are finding the time between washings long and you are constantly combating ho-hum hair, give it volume by braiding it into large sections at night.

In the morning, unbraid it, spray the roots with a flexible holding spray and finger-tousle your tresses.
